This morning we went to see Ralph Covert perform and promote his new CD & DVD Welcome To Ralph’s World at the LaGrange Borders. We met up with other members of our playgroup who are also Ralph’s World groupies, or “Ralph-heads.” All of the parents and kids really enjoyed the performance. Ralph encouraged everyone to stand up, jump around, wiggle booties, and go surfing. He was very enthusiastic and engaging with both children and adults.

Ralph joked about starting his set with the song “At the Bottom of the Sea” because of all the rain we’ve been getting here lately, but instead started out strong with “The Coffee Song.” Everyone danced and sang along. Before “M-O-M-M-Y needs C-O-F-F-E-E” got stuck in everyone’s heads, he performed “Dinosaur Rumble,” “With a Friend (The Pooh Song),” and “Happy Lemons.” The big finale was “Surfin’ in my Imagination” with all the children surfing along with Ralph.

Before the show, we were able to purchase the “Welcome to Ralph’s World” CD/DVD for $12.99 plus tax. After the performance, Ralph was kind enough to sign the new album cover and posters for each of my kids. He was also happy to pose for pictures with them.

As I’m writing this, Sophie and I are listening to the “Welcome to Ralph’s World” CD. This is a great album for those just getting introduced to Ralph because it includes songs from several of the previous Ralph’s World CD’s. Die hard Ralph-heads will enjoy the CD, but will probably appreciate the DVD more. The videos are a mix of live action singing and dancing and some cute animation. Ralph’s daughter Fiona joins her father on stage wearing a “My Dad Rocks” t-shirt.

If you purchase the “Welcome to Ralph’s World” CD/DVD directly from Ralph’s website for $14.98, you will also receive an autographed picture. The CD/DVD we purchased from Borders includes a bonus song “We Are Ants” and a bonus video “At the Bottom of the Sea.” The album is also available on Amazon.com for $9.97 with exclusive bonuses, but of different songs. “Sunny Day Rainy Day Anytime Band” is the Amazon bonus song and “Happy Lemons” is the Amazon bonus video.

Ralph’s World will be touring around the country with the Jamarama Live Kidsfest for the next few months. The tour comes to the Chicago Theatre on December 3rd. For tickets & information, click here.
