Thomas & Friends Recall Update

2007-06-ThomasRecall01Since our daughter Sophie is still putting everything in her mouth, I dutifully shipped Sammy’s 4 recalled Thomas items to the RC2 Corporation immediately after the recall was issued. I knew that they were received a few days later because I ordered Delivery Confirmation through the Post Office. RC2 recently sent me this letter via e-mail:

Dear ELAINE,
We wanted to let you know that we received the items you have returned to RC2 Corporation in response to our voluntary recall. Please be assured that we are working diligently to replace your product in a timely manner. In the meantime, if you need to contact us regarding your replacement, please use reference number ######.

The trust you have placed in the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway brand is very important to us. We want you to know that we fully understand and share your concerns and are dedicated to safeguarding that trust. Since our recall announcement a few weeks ago, we’ve focused on three primary objectives:

  1. Recovery of products subject to the recall
  2. Determination of what happened
  3. Thorough review of our processes and procedures to prevent it from happening again and to assure consumers that our products are safe.
  4. We are making progress on all three objectives, and we deeply appreciate your patience and loyalty during this time.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive this e-mail, since I’m sure there are thousands of items being returned to RC2. Once we receive our replacement trains and our free gift(s), we will post more pictures. Stay tuned!

I sent in my items the day of the recall. I received my replacements late last week. My free gift was Toad – Oliver’s Breakvan.

I received Diesel as the free gift. No replacement trains yet.

I sent in my trains a month ago and I haven’t received an email or any of the trains (free gift included) in the mail. I find that interesting considering that I may be one of the few to send them in at this time.

Jayson, we received our free gift, shipping reimbursement, and replacements last year.

Do you have a tracking number or delivery confirmation? You should e-mail the company to check the status of your shipments. Good luck!
